DOMESTIC CHURCH
OPENING PRAYER:
Scripture: You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today. Drill them into
your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest.
(Deuteronomy 6:5-7)
LET'S WATCH THIS VIDEO
Review the Nuptial Blessing prayer that is said at a Catholic wedding. It highlights how the newly married couple should form a domestic church, and asks God’s blessing on them. Discuss what each part of the prayer means, and then have students choose one part of the prayer and make a drawing of the couple living it out as a domestic church.
The Nuptial Blessing
May God the eternal Father keep you of one heart in love for one another, that the
peace of Christ may dwell in you and abide always in your home.
May you be blessed in your children, have solace in your friends, and enjoy true peace
with everyone.
May you be witnesses in the world to God's charity, so that the afflicted and needy who
have known your kindness may one day receive you thankfully into the eternal dwelling
of God.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
